Burning Man is a week-long annual event held in the Black Rock Desert in northern Nevada, in the United States. The event begins on the last Monday in August, and ends on the first Monday in September, which coincides with the American Labor Day holiday. The 2016 Burning Man Festival took place between August 29 and September 5. An estimated 70,000 people came to Burning Man 2016, from all over the world to dance, express themselves, and take in the spectacle. Tying in with the 2016 theme — the works of Leonardo da Vinci, the Man is a large-scale interpretation of the Vitruvian Man on a circular frame; contained within its base is a wheel and gear system that allow groups of visitors to manually rotate the Man. This year, a bit of the late David Bowie's ashes was in the temple, brought by his daughter Lexi.
